The Arsenal, dating back to 1816, was originally a center for US military small-arms ammunition design and development. After some years of vacancy and disregard, D2 was brought on to reimagine the purpose of five multi-story loft space buildings, totaling 208,000 SF. The new design offers the community a space for creative flex office, light industrial manufacturing, and a neighborhood café. Entrances celebrate the rich history of the buildings and their site and offer tenants a shared kitchen amenity. Keeping the architectural character fully intact, we preserved the quirky old interior halls that weave through the floors and connect the buildings. Layered with crisp wayfinding and eclectic artwork, the revitalized design celebrates a good life long lived.
