D2 Named Honoree in Interior Design Magazine Best of Year Awards

  • Date 011.01.2021

Toll Brothers Headquarters has been named an honoree in the Interior Design Magazine 2021 Best of Year awards! We are humbled to be considered among such a talented and pioneering group of global firms in the Environmental Branding category.

The Toll Brothers HQ, home to over 1,000 employees and designed to a lofty, urban scale, sits on a single, sprawling floor and mezzanine. Yet, the organization’s product – luxury residential housing – and core corporate value – family – weren’t entirely in harmony with their new, expansive frame. Our environmental branding team created moments throughout this ample space that helped create a cozier scale through placemaking – ingraining the Toll story into the experience.

Our environmental branding team created moments throughout – ingraining the Toll story into the experience.

A major part of that story was to recognize the materials utilized by the company in the field – rolled steel, concrete, and lumber. These quiet moments were created through thoughtful integration of branded signage and specialty installations that have a more subtle nod – capturing the heart of what Toll’s product creates – homes.

Artwork plays a large role in telling the story in the new HQ. Gallery walls and custom art installations are again a nod to the familiarity and layered attributes of home. Over 50 eclectic frame styles are incorporated into the design. Framed boardroom artwork recognizes the construction ingredients the company relies on to create their final product. Contrasting the austerity of a section along the main thoroughfare, an installation of antique doorknobs and knockers peppers a 40’ wall. The textural quality, enhanced by dramatic lighting, infuses levity.

In a café adjacent to the employee courtyard, a feature installation was curated with welcome mats– providing a lighthearted conversation piece. Another installation, further filling the space with a feeling of home, features a wall of houses drawn by the children of Toll employees. On the mezzanine level, a custom mixed media collage, using vintage Toll drawings and blueprints, hangs opposite a bridge.

No installation is without meaning – thoughtfully formed and crafted to tell the Toll Brothers story.
